Institute for Extended Learning seeks qualified
candidates for consideration of employment in this full-time exempt
position. Annual
beginning salary of $43,468.
Under the guidance of the Program Services
Manager, the Professional Development Specialist works as a member of an
interdisciplinary team that provides on-going support and coordination for
staff professional development. This
position is responsible for administering, organizing, developing, and
assessing the professional development training opportunities that improve staff qualifications, knowledge and
skills. This includes identifying
resources and making recommendations to enhance services and maintain
compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, rules and regulations as well
as other federal/state/local laws, rules and regulations.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Minimum
Qualifications):
·
Bachelor’s
degree in adult education, early childhood education or family studies or a
related field from an accredited institution.
Or
An equivalent mix of education and experience that
demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
·
Two
(2) years experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of training and/or
staff development programs; early childhood education; family studies or a
related field.
·
Knowledge
of adult education theory and practice.
·
Knowledge
of Head Start performance standards, policies and procedures.
·
Knowledge
of Federal/State/local laws, rules and regulations.
·
Ability
to relay information, as appropriate, and to collect, analyze
and evaluate data for reports and project trends.
·
Possess
tactfulness and the ability to provide professional leadership.
·
Ability
to work effectively under conditions of limited supervision, high stress and
rapidly changing situations and circumstances.
·
Ability
and skill to effectively plan, conduct and evaluate
training activities.
·
Ability
to provide training to adult learners.
·
Ability
to communicate effectively in English orally and in writing with individuals
and groups.
·
Ability
to set priorities and meet deadlines.
·
Ability
to work within budgets and plan expenditures.
·
Ability
to use computer software related to an office environment, including
PowerPoint.
·
Acceptance
of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at
all times.
·
A
demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and
objectives of CCS.
·
The
ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws,
regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college
system.

demonstrated understanding and value for the contributions that a diverse
workforce can make to the success of the organization and the students we
serve.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (Desirable Qualifications):
·
Master’s
degree in adult education, early
childhood education, family studies or related field from an accredited
institution.
·
Early
Head Start, Head Start or ECEAP experience.
·
Previous
experience mentoring, coaching and/or training adults.
·
Five
(5) or more years experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of training
and/or development programs.
