Position Profile:
Under general direction of the
Manager of Payroll and Benefits, the Fiscal Technician III performs a variety
of detailed fiscal transactions for the Employee Compensation Department at the
District Business Office. The payroll
functions include: preparing and maintaining payroll records, reviewing and
entering payroll data, and performing routine audits to ensure accuracy and
compliance with employee authorizations and state/federal requirements. Beginning monthly salary is $2,370 (Range 35).

Required
Competencies (minimum qualifications)
·
Advanced
computer skills using software, including spreadsheet and databases.
·
Proficient
keyboarding skills.
·
Possess
tactful and diplomatic interpersonal relationships skills.
·
Experience
preparing documents for use outside the organization, and the maintenance of
payroll and related records.
·
Ability
to clearly communicate to the public and staff in person or on the telephone in
a clear and concise manner.
·
Ability
to meet multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment, being able to multi-task
and establish priorities.
·
Ability
to pay attention to details while processing large workflow volumes.
·
Ability
to maintain confidentiality.
·
Acceptance
of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at
all times.

A
demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and
objectives of CCS.

The

Preferred
Competencies (desired qualifications)
·
Ability
to work independently, exercising independent judgment, analyzing data and
finding solutions with minimal oversight.
·
Knowledge
of CCS employee classification, salary schedules, payroll schedules, leave
policies and procedures.
·
Knowledge
of Department of Personnel (DOP) WAC’s relating to payroll and leave.
·
Accounting
classes or degree and/ or equivalent experience in payroll or accounting.
·
Two
years of full-time experience as a Fiscal Technician, or equivalent, including
experience using accounting-related software.
·
Knowledge
of GAAP.
