WEB DEVELOPER

(Information Technology Specialist 2)

Position Profile:  Under general direction this position is responsible for all aspects of the SFCC Internet and Intranet websites.  This position will assist with the design, development and maintenance of components for the SFCC Internet and Intranet web sites; and assist the Web Manager in developing modules for interactive data-driven web applications.  This position will consult with clients to scope new website projects; respond to work requests and troubleshoot problems from the college community via email and telephone; and respond to internal requests from the Web Manager and the ITS Manager.  Beginning monthly salary is $3,276 (Range 54).

Required Competencies (minimum qualifications) 

·         Proficient in MS VisualStudio.NET environment or equivalent web development tool.

·         Proficient in MS C# or VB.Net languages, ASP.NET.

·         Proficient in HTML formatting language and Cascading Style Sheets 2.0.

·         Proficient in JavaScript web client development language.

·         Proficient with Adobe Photoshop version CS2 or above.

·         Experience with MS SQL Server database design, T-SQL query language.

·         Knowledge of web design and user interface standards and best practices.

·         Ability to produce and troubleshoot complex code using current languages and technologies.

·         Ability to work with employees with varying degrees of computer knowledge.

·         Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.

·         Ability to work on stand-alone projects and as a member of a team.

·         Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.

·         A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS.

·         The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.

Preferred Competencies (desired qualifications) 

·         Certifications by vendors of technology products, especially Microsoft.

·         A Bachelor’s degree including 9 semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses and one year of experience OR An Associate’s degree or completion of an accredited vocational training program in an information technology or related program.

·         Three years of Information Technology experience in web applications development and maintenance.

·         English Composition, Journalism, or Technical Writing skills.

·         Ability to learn the SFCC web applications and their structure, network and web architecture, the needs and requirements of faculty, staff and administrators in an educational environment.
