BUS DRIVERS

PART-TIME, NON-PERMANENT POSITION

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

 

Community Colleges of Spokane is accepting applications to develop an applicant pool of qualified candidates for two part-time, non-permanent Bus Drivers in District Facilities.  Hours may be very early in the morning and/or very late in the evening.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Drive a 26-passenger bus to and from special Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) events such as athletic events, field trips, etc. 

2.     Be available on standby list to drive bus.

3.     Wait at the event for the return trip. 

4.     Assist passengers in loading and unloading special gear and luggage.

5.     Follow directions from designated event leader.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Minimum Qualifications)

·         Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.

·         A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS.

·         The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.

·         A demonstrated understanding and value for the contributions that a diverse workforce can make to the success of the organization and the students we serve.

·         CDL with class B passenger endorsement.

·         Nine years driving experience.

·         Two years bus driving experience.

·         Current certification in First Aid and CPR.

·         Random drug testing required.

 

RATE OF PAY AND HOURS OF WORK

$11.85 per hour (September 1, 2007).  Work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.  Total hours per year will not exceed 1050 per year.  Hours may be very early in the morning and/or very late in the evening.  Position is not eligible for benefits.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States.  This is an absolute condition of employment.  In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles.  Must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment.  Requires criminal background check.  Drug testing is required at the time hire; random drug testing will occur during your employment at CCS as a Bus Driver.  A copy of your driving record is required when interviewed.  If using personal vehicle for travel, proof of driver’s license and car insurance required.  Due to the amount of applications received, applications are kept on file for only six months.
