CLASSROOM ASSISTANTS
YOUTH
COLLEGE
OPEN UNTIL FILLED
Spokane
Falls Community Colleges is accepting applications to develop an applicant pool
of qualified candidates for approximately fifteen (15) part-time, non-permanent
Classroom Assistants for Youth College from June 23, 2008 through July 18, 2008,
for a total of three sessions (June 23-27, 2008; July 7-11, 2008; July 14-18, 2008).

Provide
instruction and clerical support for instructors.
·
Supervise
students (ages 9-16) in cafeteria, campus grounds, in hallways and on field
trips.
·
Setup
equipment and prepare materials for instruction.
·
Provide
personal attention to students with special needs.
·
Experience
working with children from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
·
Ability
to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
·
Acceptance
of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at
all times.
·
A
demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and
objectives of CCS.
·
The
ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws,
regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college
system.
·
A
demonstrated understanding and value for the contributions that a diverse
workforce can make to the success of the organization and the students we
serve.
PREFERRED
COMPETENCIES (Desirable Qualification)
·
Experience
working with children in a child care setting.
·
Valid
driver’s license.
Work in active in nature, requiring working
inside and outside environments. Frequent need for oral and auditory communications. Occasionally kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach,
and lift up to 25 lbs. in a classroom environment.
$8.18 per hour. Work
schedule will be determined by the supervisor from June 23, 2008 through
July 18, 2008. Total hours per year will not exceed 1050 per year. Position is not eligible for benefits.
Persons hired must be able to provide
acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in
the United States. This is an absolute
condition of employment. In addition,
the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and
prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. Must be able to successfully work in and
promote a multicultural work and education environment. Requires criminal background check. If using personal vehicle for travel, proof
of driver’s license and car insurance required.
Due to the amount of applications received, applications are kept on
file for only six months.
