CUSTODIAN
OPEN CONTINUOUSLY
District Facilities
is accepting applications to develop an applicant pool of qualified candidates
for a part-time, non-permanent Custodian located at Spokane Community College
(SCC), Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC), or the Institute for Extended
Learning (IEL).
Under General Direction, perform a variety of custodial
assignments to maintain cleanness of CCS facilities. May need to travel to CCS sites throughout
·
Clean
and sanitize restrooms, classrooms and common areas.
·
Change light bulbs and replenish supplies such as toilet
paper, soap products, paper towels and etc.
·
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; shampoo carpets; and
strip, clean, buff, and apply floor finish to floors.
·
Empty
wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers; empty and clean ashtrays and
cigarette urns.
·
Maintain
building entries, stairs, ramps and walkways by removing debris, snow and ice.
·
Set-up and take down equipment for meetings, classrooms,
and events such as easels, chalkboards, chairs, tables and etc.
·
May assist in transporting equipment between CCS
locations.
·
Maintain
and reorder adequate stock of custodial supplies.
·
Clean
equipment at conclusion of use and maintain equipment in good working order.
·
Lock
and unlock buildings when requested; secure buildings when facilities are not
in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized
occupants.
·
Report
the need for repair or maintenance of buildings to supervisors.
·
Move furniture and equipment on an incidental basis.
·
May
need to drive a vehicle to pick-up trash.
·
Perform other related duties.
·
Acceptance

Physical
ability to do the required work.
Incumbent must be able to climb, pull,
stoop, kneel, crawl, twist and crouch while performing custodial duties. Incumbent must stand or walk for long periods
of time. Duties include daily lifting of
garbage or objects up to 20 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds. The job requires repetitive movement of the
wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The
incumbent must be able to understand instructions and recognize hazardous or
poisonous materials and/or products.
There may be some exposure to fumes, dust, and/or odors from cleaning
chemicals. Respiratory equipment may be
used, requiring adherence to applicable rules (e.g., no beard). Must be physically capable of working with
and mixing custodial chemicals. Must be
physically capable of operating an automatic carpet scrubber, automatics floor
scrubber, carpet shampooer, carpet extractor, buffer, propane burnisher,
propane stripper, and a variety of vacuum cleaners to include upright, wet,
backpack, and M-1 dry vacuum.
$8.66 per hour. Work
schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
Total hours per year will not exceed 1050 per year. Position is not eligible for benefits.
