Administrative Functions

New supervisors orientation attendance required with in first year of employment for the full presentation.  The following six (6) subjects are required for all managers, administrators and professional exempt.

Administrative Function Refresher training is required for all CCS managers or supervisors once every three years. These trainings separate each of district's mandated training subjects into one individual online sessions that focuses on functional updates and reorientation to key services and requirements. This training suffices the attendance requirement for the Administrative Functions half day sessions and is appropriate only after having first attended the full program.  The following six (6) sessions are required for all managers, administrators and professional exempt.

Budget Refresher
This session is a managerial overview to the procedures, practices and policies administered by the Budget Office.

Central Receiving Refresher
Central receiving encompasses shipping, receiving, inventory management, surplus, etc.  This session provides updates on receiving, inventory process; reporting missing, lost or stolen equipment; and temporarily check-out and disposing of surplus equipment.

Facilities Refresher
This training will give a general overview of the Facilities Department – contacting Facilities, moving procedures, BIR's, fleet operations; security, and district key control.

HRO Refresher
A managerial orientation to the procedures, practices and policies administered by the Human Resource Office, with focus on managerial human resources responsibilities.

Payroll Refresher
This session is an overview of the Employee Compensation Department with specific focus on payroll and benefits policies, procedures and deadlines.

Purchasing Refresher
This session will provide updates for policies, procedures and State regulations for purchasing goods and services at CCS.  

Employee Safety

Departmental specific training is available such as Back Safety & Proper Lifting, Blood borne Pathogens Control, and Chemical Safety.  Please check with your supervisor or call the Safety Professional, 533-8623, for clarification of who is required to receive this training.

Employment Law for Non-Lawyers

Supervisor and Mangers increasingly have to deal with a multitude of federal and state laws affecting the employment process and employee rights. This training will provide you the basics you need to effectively work through these various laws to avoid costly mistakes with your employees.  The entire employment process, from recruitment and hiring, through discipline and discharge (and everything in between) will be covered, boiling down the often overlapping laws and regulations into simple to use concepts and checklists to help you navigate this often confusing area.

For all hiring manager/supervisors or employees serving on screening committees, learn how to maximize your candidate pool, analyze applicants’ strengths/weaknesses, and how to develop interview questions that elicit the information needed to select the best candidates for your positions.

Leave Administration

This training explains the interaction of various employee leaves (vacation, sick, FMLA, Shared Leave, Family Care, Parental, etc) and administration of leave in coordination with the Human Resources Office. CCS leave policies as well as contractual rights for represented employees will be discussed.

Safety Responsibilities as a Manager

The District Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) office has developed written guidelines and provides appropriate training to District employees to ensure compliance with the numerous local, state, and federal health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.  This training has been developed to ensure that managers and administrators understand their roles and responsibilities in helping to maintain an effective accident prevention program that ensures the safety and health of students, visitor, faculty, and staff.

Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment is legally defined as any behavior or action, either physical or verbal, which is sexual in nature and unwelcome, unwanted or uninvited.  Such conduct or behavior is a violation of Board Policy 2.30.01(3) and strictly prohibited.  Supervisors and managers have specific responsibilities under this policy and supporting administrative procedure.  This training will focus on the types of sexual harassment, complaint administration, investigatory practice and appropriate corrective action, with emphasis on the supervisor's role in these processes and techniques for proactively stopping such conduct from occurring.
