If a class becomes full, additional names will be placed on a waiting list.  When a sufficient number of individuals express interest, an additional class time will be identified, calendar permitting. Training sessions are outlined below, which are subject to change as new training needs arise.

“I am still learning”…

In compliance with the Master Contract, Professional Improvement Units (PIUs) will be awarded to faculty for attendance at some classes. Check with your professional/technical education dean.

Attendance of classes will be documented and a completion certificate issued to each participant.  Human Resources will also retain a copy of the certificate in the employee’s individual personnel file.

Training To Go:  Training for departments is also available when requested and where a large enough training group can be gathered, we will bring the training to you. Please contact the  Human Resources Office to request your “Training To Go.”

Spokane Training Consortium:  CCS is a long standing member a community wide training consortium making additional training opportunities available for employees.  Please contact Human Resources for information regarding training needs for you or your department.

Online Training And History Report System (OTHRS).  Introducing the CCS Human Resources -Online Training and History Report System (OTHRS)!  This new system will allow you to view your training record, record any completed CCS online training, and generate a training certificate.  To view your training history, sign in with your SID number and pin number at: http://apps.ccs.spokane.edu/TrainingHistory/.  New sessions will be added throughout the year.  To view current on-line trainings, visit the website at: http://www.ccs.spokane.edu/Employment/

 indicates the session is a self-paced online training.

 

CCS HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Per WAC 357-34 and Administrative Procedure 2.00.01 – B, all CCS managers or supervisors must complete a certification program designed to ensure competency in the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively carry out the responsibilities of their position.  New managers/supervisors must be enrolled in the certification program within six (6) months of appointment, unless later enrollment is specifically granted by the Chief Human Resources Officer.*  Certification is achieved through accumulation of 24 hours of eligible training every 3 years in the following program areas:

8.4.1          Role and legal responsibilities of a supervisor: 10 hours

8.4.2          Performance Management, including employee performance evaluation, development, counseling/coaching and discipline:  5 hours

8.4.3          Employee motivation, recognition and rewards:  2 hours

8.4.4          Communication Skills and principles:  3 hours

8.4.5          Leadership styles and methods:  4 hours

 

ROLE AND LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SUPERVISOR (8.4.1)

 Administrative Functions

New supervisors orientation attendance required with in first year of employment for the full presentation.
