  2. Seek medical attention:
  • Partner with an Advocate who will explain your rights and provide immediate counseling.
  • Receive help for physical injuries.
  • Screen for STI’s/pregnancy.
  • If possible, do not shower or clean up.  Do not change clothes.
  • Hospital staff can collect evidence using a rape kit.  Your name will be given if you choose to do this.
  • If you want to file a police report, you can call the police from the emergency room.
  • You can choose to decline any or all of these services.
