Admission Requirements

To apply for admission at Community Colleges of Spokane, applicants must be 17 years of age at the time of enrollment, and submit the following forms either by email, fax, regular mail, or online:
  1. Completed International Student Application form
  2.  An official bank statement or a letter from a financial institution verifying there is at least $17,475 available for all educational and living expenses in Spokane.  If you are NOT the owner of the account, we need an official certified document from the account owner, stating the relationship s/he has with you (mother, father, aunt, uncle, etc.) and that the money is available for your study and living expenses in the United States. This statement must be in English if it is a letter from a bank.
  3. Copy of your passport (photo page only)
  4. If the applicant’s plans include an academic program, proof of high school/secondary school completion. This can be an original or certified copy of degree results for secondary school or GED certificate or official transcripts from post-secondary colleges attended. All transcripts and degree results must have an English translation.
  5. Proof of English Proficiency*

*To be admitted to SCC or SFCC with unrestricted access to all non- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, all nonnative speakers of English must  demonstrate their proficiency in English. There are different ways to do this:

  • TOEFL score of:
    • 500 Paper
    • 173 Computer
    • 61 iBT
  • IELTS score of 5.0 (all bands 5.0 or higher)
  • TOEIC minimum score of 610
  • CAMBRIDGE CAE Grade C or better
  • EIKEN/STEP, Pre-1st grade or better
  • ITEP Academic Level 4
  • Successfully complete Level 80 of the Intensive English Language Program at either SFCC or SCC
  • Program completion and a letter of recommendation from a US Intensive English Language Program such as those at Eastern Washington University, Gonzaga University, University of Washington, Washington State University, ESL language schools Level 109, and the American Cultural Exchange
  • Graduation from a US high school
  • US college transfer (a minimum of one complete quarter that includes one course equivalent to English 101 with a minimum grade of 2.0.)
