CCS Foundation and The Arc of Spokane to offer discount to help students dress for success

The Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation is pleased to announce a new joint venture with The Arc of Spokane to benefit students and help them build wardrobes for success.  Initially launched by benefactors Tracie Schillinger and Anne Fritz, Wardrobes for Success started as an on-campus event one weekend per year to help students obtain the professional clothing necessary to succeed in the post-college employment world.

Students are entering the workforce throughout the year, not only after graduation. This new partnership will allow CCS students to present their college identification card and receive assistance in selecting the clothes necessary to succeed as they enter the workforce.

“This is a three-way win,” said Tony Higley, executive director, CCS Foundation. “It’s an access and savings win for our students since The Arc is open seven days a week and offers easy access from either SFCC or SCC campus, a win in building a valuable new partnership for the Foundation, as well as a win for the event benefactors to be able to carry on this great event in a more sustainable manner.”  Dr. Christine Johnson, CCS chancellor, added, “We’re grateful to Tracie and Anne and the generosity of so many donors who help our students ‘dress for success’ in a highly competitive job market.”

All students with a CCS student ID will be given a 50 percent discount every day of the week. In addition to clothing, The Arc offers household items, furniture and books that students can benefit from as well.

Professional clothing donations will continue to be collected at CCS Foundation offices at the Riverpoint campus, at Student Activities offices at SCC, The Lodge at SFCC and the Adult Education Center on Monroe. Donors can also arrange for donation pick-up by contacting The Arc directly at 509-822-7748.
