CCS Class of 2015 takes flight

Community Colleges of Spokane students have earned more than 2,500 college degrees and professional certificates, plus more than 200 certificates signifying GED, ESL or high school completion, as commencement ceremonies gear up beginning Thursday, June 16.

CCS’s 2015 graduation schedule and details:

Tuesday, June 16, 6 p.m.
Adult Basic Education-College-GED-ESL graduation, Spokane Community College, Johnson Sports Complex, Building 5, 1810 N Greene St.:
A total of 111 students earned GEDs, 39 English as a Second Language certificates and 41 high school completions.

Wednesday, June 17, 6:30 p.m.
Newport Center commencement, Stratton Elementary, 1201 W. Fifth, Newport, Wash.:
The center is awarding nine associate of arts (AA) degrees and eight associate in applied science (AAS) degrees. Three students earned their GEDs.

Thursday, June 18, 6 p.m.
Colville-Inchelium-Ione-Republic Centers commencement, Colville Center, 985 S. Elm St., Colville, Wash.:
The Centers are awarding 160 associate of arts (AA) degrees (144 Colville graduates, 7 from Inchelium and 9 from Republic), 28 associate in applied science (AAS) degrees (19 from Colville, 5 from Inchelium, 2 from Ione and 5 from Republic) and 20 professional certificates (9 Colville graduates, 5 Inchelium graduates and 5 Republic graduates). Nineteen students earned their Adult Basic Education/GEDs, including 17 from Colville and 2 from Republic.

Friday, June 19, 3:00 p.m.
SFCC commencement, Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave.:
SFCC is awarding 778 AA transfer degrees, 301 AAS degrees, 22 associate in fine arts degrees and 75 professional certificates. This includes 26 international students and 120 Running Start students. VP of Student Services Darren Pitcher will be the keynote speaker.

Friday, June 19, 7 p.m.
SCC commencement, Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave.:
SCC is awarding 456 AA degrees, 5 associate in biology degrees, 20 associate in business degrees, 3 associate in elementary education degrees and 2 associate in pre-nursing degrees; and 334 in Health and Environmental Sciences and 352 in Technical Education degrees and certificates.

Monday, June 22, 6:30 p.m.
SFCC Pullman Campus commencement, Bell Tower, 125 S.E. Spring St., Pullman, Wash.
SFCC Pullman Campus is awarding 12 AA degrees, 4 AAS degrees and 2 professional certificates. In addition, 12 students are receiving their High School Completions and 1 receiving a GED. Pullman Superintendent Paul Sturm will be the keynote speaker.
