Longtime Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation supporter and former Spokane Falls Community College instructor Margaret Thrailkill passed away in February at the age of 98, but her legacy will continue to live on. Thrailkill donated a life insurance policy of $25,000 to the CCS Foundation. This gift is one of many Thrailkill made throughout her lifetime and more than doubles her fund providing scholarships to outstanding Spokane Community College and SFCC students.

Thrailkill had a varied business career and later taught business math and communications at SFCC. Her daughter Nancy Kennedy, currently a business instructor at SFCC, said her mother had a strong commitment to CCS and inspired others to give. “She often would leave people with a challenge. She’d say, ‘It’s really your duty. You need to give to the CCS Foundation,’” said Kennedy. “People just listened to Mom.”
