Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2017-18 academic year. Started in 1967 as part of Spokane Community College on property that was once Fort George Wright, in 1970, college trustees voted to create two separate, but cooperative colleges, and the Fort Wright campus was renamed Spokane Falls Community College.

Andrew Feldman, Ph.D., was selected to be the next vice president for learning at SFCC after a nationwide competitive selection process. Feldman currently serves as the dean of science, engineering and mathematics at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Ore. He begins his new position July 1.

Jim Brady, SFCC dean of computing, math and science; Andrew Feldman, dean of science, engineering and math at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Ore.; and Steven Gering, chief innovation and research officer at Spokane Public Schools are the candidates.
