Spokane Community College’s Inland Northwest Culinary Academy Chef Instructor Bob Lombardi was presented with the Distinguished Service Award at the CCS Board of Trustees meeting April 28. He received the medallion from Board of Trustees Chairman Mike Wilson who thanked Lombardi for, “all the great work you do and the image your project on behalf of the Community Colleges of Spokane.”

Now in its tenth year, the Spokane Falls Community College International Film Festival brings films from France, Spain, Hong Kong, Cuba and Italy to Spokane. All films begin at 7:15 at the Garland Theater, 924 W. Garland Ave.

The Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation is pleased to announce a new joint venture with The Arc of Spokane to benefit students and help them build wardrobes for success.  Initially launched by benefactors Tracie Schillinger and Anne Fritz, Wardrobes for Success started as an on-campus event one weekend per year to help students obtain the professional clothing necessary to succeed in the post-college employment world.

Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) will serve as the lead host for an Afghanistan-U.S. Best Practices Study Course, involving a 15-person delegation of Afghanistan higher education professionals. Sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Afghanistan University Support and Workforce Development Program, the Best Practices Study Tour is an important step toward the launch of new associate degree programs in Afghanistan.

The two colleges recently received special designation as Military Friendly Schools because of their comprehensive support and services for veterans.

[Spokane, Wash.] Recently expanded evening programs at Spokane Community College (SCC) offer more ways for working professionals to advance their career or finish a degree. With classes between 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., it’s now possible to keep a full-time job while earning credits that transfer to a four-year program or high-wage job with a technical certificate at SCC.

Northwest Farm Credit Services (Northwest FCS), in partnership with the Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation, just announced it will offer $10,000 in scholarships to veterans studying in the General Agriculture, Agriculture/Horticulture, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management and Water Resources Technology programs at Spokane Community College. Providing these opportunities to veterans, while supporting the future of agriculture in the region, is a priority for Northwest FCS.
