Students at Spokane Falls Community College have a new engineering scholarship opportunity thanks to a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to support low-income students from groups underrepresented in the engineering field—ethnic minorities, women and students from rural areas.

More Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) students will be on-track to earn a bachelor’s degree in high-demand STEM programs thanks to a $125,000 grant awarded to the community college this fall.

Twenty students in Newport will have the opportunity to earn a welding and fabrication certificate, without leaving town, beginning in January. The one-year certificate is being offered at the Spokane Community Newport Center, and thanks to a $49,152 United States Department of Agriculture Rural Business Development Grant, there will be additional student support.

Spokane Community College’s Adult Education program is kicking off its new mobile food bank with Second Harvest on Wednesday, October 14 from noon to 2 p.m. at its Adult Education Center at 2310 N. Monroe Street, Spokane.

Spokane Community College has been awarded $2,046,471 over five years to support college initiatives devoted to increasing student success and completion. The grant, entitled the EPIC Project:  to Engage, Prepare and Intrusively Advise Students to Completion is part of the U.S. Department of Education’s Title III, Strengthening Institutions Program.

[Spokane, Wash.] The statewide Air Washington program, which is administered at Spokane Community College, was chosen this week as an “exemplary workforce training program” by the U.S. Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College & Career Training (TAACCCT) grant program.
