He has been with The Journal of Business since 1997. Prior to that, he was valley operations manager for The Spokesman-Review and taught business and marketing classes part time at Eastern Washington University, Cheney.

Bever holds a bachelor’s degree from EWU and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University. He received EWU’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2004.

Locally, Bever serves on the board of directors for the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute and on Greater Spokane Incorporated’s board of trustees. He is a past president of Spokane Valley Rotary and assistant district governor for Rotary International; past chair of the Spokane International Trade Alliance; past chair of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce; and past president of the Inland Northwest Council Boy Scouts of America. Bever also has held leadership positions on the Spokane Regional Economic Development Council, Spokane Region Convention and Visitors Bureau, Spokane Sports Commission and CenterPlace at Mirabeau Point in the Spokane Valley.
