Patty Shea

 

Appointed to the CCS Board of Trustees by Gov. Chris Gregoire in September 2005, Patty Shea is regional business manager for business and public affairs with Avista Utilities in Spokane. She currently serves as chair of the board.

Her interest, dedication and enthusiasm for the community colleges' mission began more than 27 years ago when she enrolled in Spokane Community College's mid-management and executive secretary programs. She graduated from SCC with two associate in applied science degrees in 1979.

In 1985, Shea returned to SCC to complete an associate of arts degree in liberal arts, transferring to Eastern Washington University where she earned a bachelor's and master's degree in business administration. She also is a graduate of Leadership Spokane.

Now in her 25th year at Avista, Shea was first hired as an executive secretary after participating in a mock interview session during a class at SCC. At Avista, she has served as a human resources training coordinator, weatherization program manager, customer service/call center manager, Lewis/Clark division gas manager, electric/gas construction design manager, and operations emergency dispatch manager among other positions.

Shea has served on numerous CCS college advisory and program committees, is a regular presenter at college leadership development programs, and has taught business, marketing, and management courses part time at SCC.

Shea also served on the CCS Foundation Board of Directors from 1998 to 2002. While on the board, she was Pacesetter Committee Chair for the Hagan Foundation Center for the Humanities campaign at SCC and worked on the Foundation's Touch the Future House committee.
