What is the application deadline?
Due to unprecedented enrollment demand, application deadlines vary at this time. Check with the Admissions Office at SCC, SFCC and the IEL for current information. We encourage you to apply as early as possible to have the best chance of:
- Getting into the classes you need
- Making sure your financial aid arrives in time
- Attending an orientation
Where do I get an application?
What role do high school grades play in acceptance?
None.
Do I have to submit letters of recommendation?
No.
What percentage of students are accepted?
We have an open-door policy. That means every student with a high school diploma or GED will be accepted. However, certain programs may have wait-lists and/or prerequisites. Work closely with your counselor so you can get the classes you need and graduate as efficiently as possible.
To be classified as a resident for tuition and fee purposes, a student must be:
- Financially independent and have established a bona fide domicile in the state of Washington for other than primarily educational purposes for one year immediately prior to the first day of the academic quarter; OR
- Financially dependent and have one or both parents domiciled in the state of Washington for a period of one year immediately prior to the first day of the academic quarter. Read more about residency status

What is a placement test?
Placement tests assess your readiness for college-level classes in English and math. All students must take an assessment test before beginning college-level work. The tests cost $20. Find out more about testing at SCC or SFCC.
Do I have to take SAT or ACT tests?
No! We do not accept SAT or ACT tests. Instead, first-time students are required to take a placement test. This test helps us determine your readiness for college-level classes in English and math.
