  • Getting into the classes you need
  • Making sure your financial aid arrives in time
  • Attending an orientation

Most students apply online.  You can also download a paper application from SFCC/IELor SCC.

What role do high school grades play in acceptance?
None.

Do I have to submit letters of recommendation?

No.

What percentage of students are accepted?
We have an open-door policy. That means every student with a high school diploma or GED will be accepted.  However, certain programs may have wait-lists and/or prerequisites. Work closely with your counselor so you can get the classes you need and graduate as efficiently as possible.

What is a placement test?
Placement tests assess your readiness for college-level classes in English and math.  All students must take an assessment test before beginning college-level work.  The tests cost $20.  Find out more about testing at SCC or SFCC.

Do I have to take SAT or ACT tests?
No!  We do not accept SAT or ACT tests.  Instead, first-time students are required to take a placement test.  This test helps us determine your readiness for college-level classes in English and math.

How important are my high school grades in determining eligibility?
Your high school grades are not used to determine your eligibility for admission to our community colleges. However, your high school grades are very important to prepare your for your future success in college-level courses.

How do I apply for financial aid and scholarships?
Financial aid and scholarships require separate applications.  Most financial aid comes from the state and federal governments.  To access state and federal financial aid, you must fill out the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA).  To apply for our scholarships, complete a CCS Foundation scholarship application.
